A pioneer in computer-based trading systems with over 30 years of market experience
Mike Chalek is a computer modeling expert and a system developer in the stock and commodity markets. During the past thirty years, he has been very active constructing computer based commodity trading systems and developing software for computer trading system techniques, in trend and day trading.
His trading systems have been featured in such publications as the “Wall Street Journal”, “Forbes”, “Technical Analysis of Stocks & Commodities”, “Worth Magazine”, “Futures and Options World” and “Futures Magazine”. He has created five publicly released systems to date. They are Dual Thrust, Talon, Price Surge Trigger Point, Squeeze and Floor Monitor.
They have been highly ranked by Futures Truth Co., an independent systems auditor, over the last several years, many of which were in the “Top Ten Consistent Performing Systems”. One thing that’s impressive about Mike is that his systems have been around for a few years and were not invented yesterday. For example, a study reported in Futures Magazine showed Dual Thrust to be the #1 T-Bond system, Talon to be the #1 S&P Day trading system, Price Surge the #1 Swiss Franc system in 1994 and Squeeze the #1 Bond system in 1995.
Mike has been associated with many key individuals in the industry such as Joe Granville, Larry Williams, Walter Bressert, J.D. Hamon, Jake Bernstein, Bruce Babcock and John Hill, and has been directly responsible for joint development of trading methodologies and systems for the aforementioned.
During 1985 Mike developed and performed system tests for Howard Abel (a famous floor trader). He was a major contributor to Joe Granville’s classic “New Strategy for Daily Stock Market Timing” and proving the 1929 crash using his On-Balance-Volume Method. He worked with J.D. Hamon designing the Spike System.
Mr. Chalek was involved in a business venture with Larry Williams on the co-development of the “Ultimate Oscillator” that is now publicly recognized as a built-in indicator for TradeStation™ and TradingView™ and many other commercial trading platforms.
He did write a weekly column for America Online in the Top Advisors’ Corner known as the “Market ViewPoint”. Mike was a regular guest on “Winning on Wall Street”, a daily financial radio broadcast on WCOL in Denver Colorado from 2011 to 2016.
Mike attended the University of Illinois and received a BS degree in Electrical Engineering. In June of 1979 he received a graduate MS degree in Electrical Engineering. He also did additional graduate studies in microprocessor theory and design.
Chalek’s engineering background was utilized in his position as a Design Engineer for Bell Laboratories (AT&T) from 1977 through 1986, where he obtained recognition as an innovator of LSI Modeling Techniques (Large Scale Integration).
In November 1986, Chalek resigned from AT&T to concentrate his entrepreneurial pursuits in the investment community.
